Friday, March 9, 2012 - At 0750 hrs this morning the 2nd alarm was struck for the Stonnington Ct. apartments located in the 1800 block of Laurel Road, Lindenwold. At that time CP 6300 had fire through the roof of the 100 building and moving along the cock-loft and had already involved up to 6 units on the 2nd floor. CP 6300 did request the "all hands" be struck upon his arrival and the second alarm was requested shortly after. As many as 4 master streams were used to knock down this fire along with multiple hand-lines, ground ladder work and aggressive interior work from the balconies on the C Side of the building.
Rehab 13, U1386, U1388 towing the Kawasaki Mule all responded to the scene with a total of 10 personnel. Rehab 13 initially was asked to setup on the Laurel Road side, but due to a wind shift and heavy smoke could not maintain that position. Eventually, the rehab sector was setup on the main entry road into the complex, out of the smoke and in a more quiet position.
Rehab members began deploying coolers full of liquids and began preparing hot food upon arrival. Cooling towels, and chairs were placed in service at the rehab area, and the rest room was opened and put in service. Rehab also supplied blankets and socks to the residents displaced by the fire, and were attended to by the Red Cross and building management. Rehab also provided hot food, coffee, and liquids for the residents as well as all Fire, Police, and EMS workers on the incident scene. The "Mule" was placed in service upon arrival to transport liquids, food, and clean towels and coffee all over the fire-ground including the Fire Police located at remote sites when Laurel Road was shutdown.
Rehab 13 was released from the scene at 1217 hrs and returned to resupply and was back in full service by 1400 hrs. The fire is under investigation by the PAU Unit, Camden County Fire Marshals Office, and local investigators.
