Friday afternoon got busy around 1420 hrs. when Rehab 13 was requested to 450 Loch Lomond Drive for the 2nd alarm 2 story apartment fire end unit.
Rehab 13 responded with (2) apparatus and 6 personnel and were also requested for the 2nd alarm assignment at the La Cascata Condos off of Kelly Drivers Lane. Both fires went to extra alarms due to fire conditions upon arrival and 2 working fires within the same area at the same time during daytime hours.
Units from Rehab 13 went to each location separately. During the initial response Rehab 13 (1385) went to the Loch Lomond addres: and U1386 did drop off liquids for the members but had trouble with access (La Cascata) due to the size of the streets and apparatus in service. U1386 did return to this scene later for the duration of that incident.
This dual response is the first time this has ever happened and we have designed a plan to be able to serve food from U1386 if we get another dual working fire in the future. This unit has a freezer with all types of extra food, and we will be carrying a microwave on board this unit starting this week for future multiple assignments if and when they occur.
Rehab 13 operated at both jobs from 1500 hrs. until 1800 hrs. and returned to quarters to re-supply.
Both fires are under investigation at this time for origin and cause.
