divCherry Hill Fire Department companies were dispatched at 1708 hours today to thenbsp600 block of Jefferson Avenue in the Erlton section for a reportednbspdwellingnbsp fire with people trapped. First arriving fire units found a heavy fire condtion on the first floor Side A of a two story single family dwelling with heavy smoke throughout. The all hands assignment was struck adding the rest of the on duty staffing of the fire department along with Rehab 1385 and RescueCascade 1375 to the response along with the Cherry Hill Fire Police Unit.brdivdivnbspdivdivEngine 1322nbspLadder 1324 Engine 1352 Squad 1362 Engine 1331 and Ladder 1344nbspwent in service with multiple handlinesnbspwith search and rescue effortsnbspimmediately initiated.nbspnbspSquad 1362nbsphad the F.A.S.T. assignment. Firefighters made entrynbspwith anbspnbsp2 12 handlinenbspand knocked down the fire quicklynbspwhile truck company members conducted a primary search for the reported victim. One unconscious female occupant was located by firefighters and was removed from the dwelling andnbsptransported by Cherry Hill EMS to a local hospital for treatment. This occupant was later transfered to HUP for further treatment. The other occupant of the home was on the second floor and escaped by going out a 2nd floor window and onto the front roof extension and then to the ground without assistance. The cause of the firenbspis being investigated by the Cherry Hill Fire Investigation unit along with the Camden County Fire Marshals Office.brdivdivnbspdivdivRehab 1385 providednbspcooling towels and water along with Gatorade and cold water for hydration for all firefighters on the scene during this 92 degree day.
