Around 0700 this morning Voorhees Twp. fire fighters were dispatched for the dwelling fire located in the Franklin Square section behind the Echelon Mall. Camden County Communications reported that there were flames showing from the rear of the home and that they were receiving numerous calls. BC John Stahl was near the scene when the alarm came in and was on location quickly reporting heavy fire from the CD corner and placed all hands in service. Fire apparatus from Voorhees Cherry Hill Task Force consisting of Ladder 44 and Squad 62 and BLS unit 1396 Gibbsboro Somerdale Stratford Lindenwold and Evesham Twp Station 223 were all called in to assist. Multiple handlines were stretched and an aggressive interior attack was initiated but units were pulled from the interior via the evacuation signal for a brief time due to worsening conditions. Once the fire was darkened down from the exterior crews were able to re-enter and complete the job. There was a lot of overhaul to be completed. Units from the Camden County Fire Marshals office are investigating that fire and at this time a cause had not been released.Rehab 1385 was requested at 0728 and responded with a crew of four and was able to get right across the street from the fire building. Rehab set up a rest area and provided cold drinkscoffee and hot chocolate for all FF personnel.Support 1388 also responded and was on scene with a relief crew and additional supplies at 0900. A crew change occurred at 1000 and 1388 left the scene. Rehab 1385 was released from the scene at 1018 hours. 1385 was placed back in service by 1130 hours after a minor problem with the drain door in the RV bathroom had to be fixed. This was done by in house personnel. A total of 8 personnel from Rehab 138 handled the assignment.All photos by Captain Colacicco
