nbspMembers of Rehab 13-8 and Cherry Hill Fire Police Unit 13-6 took part in a two company driver rodeo drill on Monday night on the parking lot of the former Sears HardwareClover Store that is now vacant space. Lt. Mike Casey and Training Officer Lt. Bill Scheufele set up the course with cones donated by the fire police unit and used the layout of the driving course that was designed by the VFIS. nbsp All qualified drivers and those in the process of qualifying were required to go through the course as a skills improvement exercise to keep every apparatus drivers skill level where it needs to be to safely operate the equipment to and returning from the incident scene. nbsp Exercises included narrow lanes decreasing lane width forward and reverse serpentines backing and pulling forward to barriers parallel parking and proper turning and mirror use. Each driver was required to go through the exercise at least once in each vehicle. nbsp As each driver completed the course the instructors were able to critique each drivers technique and offer suggestions for improvement. Although a couple of cones were run over the overall results were very good for the members that attended. nbsp Another Driver Rodeo is scheduled for the other half of the company in August and for the balance of the Fire Police members that did not attend this session. nbsp Photos by L.
